one of my favorite trends this season is the a-line mini shift. its a tough one to pull off if you’re a little top-heavy like me, but if you’ve got long legs and a pantload of confidence like Ms. Diaz here, DO IT.

here are some much more affordable (and wearable) versions from Forever 21. since they’re so versatile, i’ll show you 3 different ways of wearing them.

smocked flower shift: forever21 $24.80
cropped sailor pants: urban outfitters $39.99
canvas quarterstrap flats: urban outfitters $19.99

pear dress: forever21 $24.80
plaid shorts: forever21 $19.80
seychelles basketweave flats: urban outfitters $39.99
reptile bucket bag with braided strap: urban outfitters $19.99

embroidered milano shift: forever21 $24.80
braided silver leather sandals: amazon.com $20
large tiana hobo: delia*s $32.50
carved silver bangle set: urban outfitters $18
more tips:
- be careful when wearing this style with boots (unless they are ankle-height or over jeans), you might end up looking dated. can you say gogo girl?
- also, if you are wearing this dress with a bare leg, always make sure that it reaches at least mid-thigh or you’ll look like you just forgot to wear pants (ah, pants are for chumps, anyway).
