titillatingly cheeky.

nevermind that these tops are handmade, high-quality, flattering and slightly twee. they’re also naughty.
yeah they’re $75+ a pop, but they gave me a giggle so i’m passing it on…

lochers “you suck” top
$79

no what else makes me giggle? fourfour’s antm recaps. cheeky!

i love love.

and i love to spread it! i thought i’d give a shoutout to my loyal readers, fellow bloggers and the top commentators of my barely one month old blog. you guys ROCK!

Lovely Lynne! a reader from the very beginning… she found Nicole Richie’s to DIE for outfit on InStyle Magazine’s site for a heck of a lot more than $133! she also found a site very similar to Zu-Zu-B that’s having a very large sale! she has great taste cause she splurged on these sexy black boots!

Savvy Sarah found out that Reese’s necklace (which looks an awful lot like my 25 cent garage sale find) is a genuine Van Cleef & Arpels onyx and 24 karat gold link number and costs “a lot more than 25 whole dollars!” and dammit, she would probably look amazing in this gorgeous bikini!

and thank you, Fashion-y, Cheap Chica, lookbook and TBF: Project Blog for your link lovin! back atcha , babes!

and to top it all off, Coutorture is going to let me be featured on their gorgeous site! ah, pain and fashion are a match made in heaven, n’est-ce pas?

so many loves! keep it comin!
thanks so much,

amber @ painfullyhip.com

its a sale party

hallelujah, i heart zu-zu-b! lookit!

1zuzub.jpg
black and white shirtdress $35
three tone knit dress $22
bubble sleeve t-shirt $25
enamel linked belt $31
patent leather art deco almond toe pumps $43

seriously, those shoes? i could DIE.

wicked prices, fantastic selection, gorgeous models and tons of photographs, but the site is impossible to navigate. the “categories” are completely arbitrary and the drop-down menus (at least on my mac) are too far away from the sidebar and disappear before i can reach them with the mouse. go to the advance search if you have the same problem or just shop by price.

the everloving budget fashionista has a 10% off code for you, aussi!

and then there’s this store:

LF Designer Boutique 85% off!

some supercute jumpers, mini dresses and skirts. some claim to be worn by celebrities (if that’s something that floats your boat).

holy wow.

cheeky swimwear for chic cheapies!

yes i know. it’s only march. i live in the PNW. but i’m an obsessive shopper and i need a new swimsuit in time for my big roadtrip in… may.

shuddup. you know you’ll have bought a new teeny weeny one by mid-april.

i’ve always refused to pay full price for a bathing suit just out of the sheer stubborness. i have a mental block against it. its just such a tiny amount of fabric with not a lot of extras. i once saw this gorgeous mixed print bikini at Victoria’s Secret that was absolutely perfect and beautiful and i would go there and visit it often but the price never went under $70 and i refused to buy it and i still fantasize about that stupid thing. why? oh,why did you have to exist, Perfect Bikini?

oh. you’re still here! um here’s some other decent swimwear…

bfbcbg2499.jpg
BCBG black and white abstract print halter top: $34.99
BCBG black and white abstract print bikini: $24.99

how hip is this?? seriously. shameless. all the colors of the season. an oversized yellow tote and white flats would be WHITE HOT with this.

1dknygrnsatin4499.jpg
DKNY lawn green satin halter bikini $44.99

um, do you see that detailing?? its got the nonchalant sex appeal of a regular triangle top with the elegance and support of an underwire. and god i love green.

still too rich for your blood? try this on for size:
bandeaubikini1199.jpg
striped bandeau bikini (comes in red and white too): $11.99

so cute! nautical flavor, pin-up styling… who doesn’t love them some stripes? or a $12 bikini?! c’mon.

some hip tips on shopping for swimwear:

find some flattering solid-coloured bikini bottoms and then shop in the clearance section for orphaned tops to match them! take them with you to the store or buy them in black or white and shop for tops online. you won’t believe the deals you can find on orphaned pieces! you can buy 2 or 3 tops for one bottom too!

if you are top heavy try a solid coloured top with lots of support (ie. halters and underwires) and a low cut, patterned bottom. if you are bottom heavy wear a patterned top and a scoop bottom. stay away from string bikinis as they draw a straight line across your hips and add width. conversely, go straight for the string bikinis if you have no hips (or concave ones, like mine – if I have a baby, I’m headed straight to epidural city).

sites that do the bargain shopping for you

i got an email recently from a woman doing some marketing for a site called NetHaggler.

apparently you can…

  • tag an item you desire using their toolbar and when the price drops to what you want to pay, they’ll inform you.
  • get them to nag a retailer to lower the price for you immediately, or…
  • join a group of shoppers to haggle for a group rate!

crazy huh? it’s still in beta so we’ll see how it pans out. it seems too good to be true. it needs a new web designer- the logo is a blatant copy of flickr’s and would probably only work for items with less demand and no fixed value. however it could work especially well for things like clothes and shoes. it seems to have a good selection of retailers so far (Macy’s, Tiffany, Delia*s, Nordstrom, FCUK, Bloomingdale’s…).

another site i discovered recently is JungleCrazy. its an image-driven engine that crawls Amazon.com for its backend most insane deals ever. anything over 70% off. its a beautiful site, but kind of a bitch to navigate.

crazygonuts. the interwebs are my favorite.
