i haven’t done a beauty post in a long while, but i’ve found some really great products lately. hell, i’ve been looking like a freaking movie star. these fancypants directors are always comin’ into my work at the sound studio, all trying to discover me an’ shit. and i’m all like, puhLEASE! i’m just fine sitting here at my computer updatin’ my blog, thanks very much.
anyway, here’s how i do it…
from the drugstore:
Cover Girl Advanced Radiance Age Defying Makeup SPF 10: $9.50
i love this stuff. it’s completely breathable and weightless, great texture, and can be layered for more coverage. SPF 10 and Olay age-defying ingredients don’t hurt neither (30 is the new 20, so i’ve still got 3 more weeks of 19).
L’Oreal Lash Architect Mascara: $7.39
ok, i have the measleyest, most emaciated lashes in existence and this makes me look like i’m wearing falsies. but not overly. i’m not the type who spends 5 minutes layering on mascara. if you are, this is not the stuff for you. apparently it flakes if you put on too much.
infinite aloe moisturizer: $40 for a huge pantload (on special, regular $60!)
i have combo skin and the most annoying thing is when i get zits and dry patchiness at the same time. or at least i think it was… cuz i can’t remember the last time that happened since i started using this stuff. i think you can only buy it online, but i use it for everything. sunburns, rashes, bruises, chapped lips… miraculous. and that huge jar lasts me at least 6-8 months.
splurgeworthy:
Smashbox O-Glow Blush: $26
this stuff seems totally gimmicky and silly. so i had to try it of course (the girls at the office were combining shipping on a huge Sephora order so i had an excuse). it’s this clear gel that’s apparently made from magical, mythical “goji berries” and it reacts to your skin’s chemistry with a “microcirculatory effect” that makes you actually blush the color you would naturally! those crazy makeup scientists! it turns a color i would never have thought to buy and is uber-flattering. i probably won’t buy it again (it ended up costing me over $40 with the conversion, tax, shipping and handling), but the next blush i buy will definitely be as close to the same color as i can find. sephora now has free shipping for purchases over $50.
Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder: $34
this stuff is not for everybody. it’s stupidly expensive, messy, and very specialized. but i have the crappiest head of hair that was ever foisted on anyone. no wonder i’m an atheist. it’s thin, flat, fine and gets oily after only a few hours. this is my savior. it helps with ALL of these curses and the 4.4oz size lasts me for about 3-4 months if i’m stingy. the pretty boy who sprayed it on me for the first time at the salon said, “Bette Midler calls this stuff Backcombing in a Bottle.”
it’s true. now i’m practically Brigitte Bardot (ha!). thanks B&b, you saved my self-esteem.
