not much else left to live for now, The Simpsons and Linda E. are in Harper’s Bazaar

well The Simpsons Movie better be good with all the hype that’s going into it, i sorta stopped watching the show the minute that awful Manatee episode ended. but i will always be a fan, especially now! finally, Marge Simpson has peeled off her tired green tube dress (maybe she finally decided to wash it) and pearls for something just a little more FAB!! i love this Harper’s (August, 2007) spread. it’s beautifully ridiculous and so well done. it was genius to include Linda Evangelista, as she is in my opinion, just as much an icon of the last decade as the hilariously jaundiced family. well-played, Bazaar, i always new you were the classiest of all glossies. here’s the spread itself, along with the garments the illustrations were based on.

Linda looks fierce as she does in the flesh and Donatella, well she kinda looks like a fleshed-out cartoon character anyway. Marge looks as fresh-faced as the day Homer married her.

Chanel and Lagerfeld

“The latest hot accessory, personal scaffolding.” only patty and selma could pull this look off. it takes unrepentant attitude, a husky voice and lots of cigarettes.

Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs

go figure, these exaggerated Vuitton outfits look better on the simpsons than they do on the models.

  3. Funny but all of the fashions looked like they were designed exclusively for the Simpsons, and only the Simpsons. Seriously though, I loved it!

  5. Wow! this had to take a lot of work to match up all the designers with the Simpsons photos, great job!

The marketers first infiltrated the Convenient Store market with their 7-11 conversions, and now the fashion industry as well. I agree with you, I hope the movie lives up to the hype.

  6. i’m still not sure how i feel about this. the concept is stellar… but the simpsons? there’s nothing really chic about them. maybe if this had been done nearly twenty years ago when they were cutting edge. i guess it was an attempt to bring them back in vogue (no pun intended) and make them hip again… a little movie promo to boot too… but this just doesn’t do it for me overall.

i love what you did by picturing them next to the actually designer items! you’re so smart!

i considered writing about it, but didn’t want to be so slanted in my opinion. you did a better job. i guess that means there’ll be a link tomorrow. ;)
    love you girl!

  7. Total GENIUS!! They didn’t really need to do much to Alber as he kinda already looks like that. And it’s good to see Marge in something else for a change. Man, that green dress must be able to walk out the door by itself by now!
