Here it is! Finally. I’ve had a crazy 2008 so far, but I’m ready to settle in for some hardcore blogging. This was tough and took me over 4 hours because (1) we love all our thrift stars, and (2) because I type this in the middle of a huge and scary windstorm which is slowing down my internet connection to a sad slither and leaves me in fear of power outages or an errant tree falling on my laptop. But we’ve finally come up with our picks for the most influential and inventive Thrift Stars of 2007 chosen according to their body of photos. These ladies have changed the way we approach dressing ourselves: with joy, unrepentant flair, clever sophistication and a lust for the unexpected. Here they are in all their glory (and in no particular order)…

Nemrešpobjećodnedjelje is quite simply amazing. She is a mad alchemist of color and silhouette and has likely been the most consistently chosen remixer, never ever disappointing with her level of audacity. We bow down to thee, oh fearless prophetess of outfit ownage!

Oh Piksi. This austere little finnish slaughterhouse nymphette is a force of nature. She can do no wrong and has been seen smattered about the inter-verse and elevated to icon status. She inspires haikus with her dainty silhouettes, platinum hair, high-waisted skirts, beautiful coats and ridiculous cuteness. This second outfit in particular is one of my favorites (the yellow shoes and turquoise hairband are genius touches), but i’d guess most of us will say we suffer from Piksi closet envy. I’ve been officially diagnosed.

Of course. Our very own Sherbet Tone (yes, we’re going to claim her, go get schooled by her awesome guest posts). We have a major girl crush on Sarah. She has this awesome nerdy sex appeal that completely does us in! Self-proclaimed curvy and able to OWN a pair of slouchy tapered 80′s slacks, a micro-mini shift and geek specs, or a bright vintage bathing suit and oxfords, her quirky styling knack has us reeling. This girl could make gold out of the 25 cent thrift store bin that everyone else left for dead.

Sally Jane knows her shit. She can be both sweet as pie and flashing her endless gams in a multitude of mini shifts or easily channeling 70′s rockstar status. If i could choose only one ebay store to shop at, it would probably be hers. I just can’t get over the fact that she forgot she had those BOOTS! a testament to the sheer magnitude of her wardrobe.

Granted, Vintage Society Girl has the makings of an extensive vintage boutique in addition to a closet, but isn’t that every girl’s dream? She just happens to be living it. I love the way she uses vintage to emulate current trends and tops it all off with audacious accessories. Absorb her blog and live the dream with her. I plan on making a pilgrimage to SoCal once her store opens!

Deliciously, joyously tacky and very much her own, sjwhidden’s outfits are always good for a smile. This uber-cute Québecer combines color with more color, sass with more sass and always has a goofy pose, hilarious title or a cameo by her adorable daughter to make us all wish we had her outlook, her life and her closet.

Lebonbonmulticolore is truly a style star. She’s been featured in style magazines, newspapers and streetstyle blogs all over. She loves Montreal and it’s distinct sense of style and takes photos for the amazing MTL Street. She exudes utter sophistication, but doesn’t shy away from quirky deets. If you ask me, she is legendary.

La meow vintage makes her wardrobe her art. she seems to have the most singular vision of all and says pshaw to anyone who’d dare try to influence her style. She has no fear of mixing seizure-inducing patterns or rocking acid-washed mom jeans to an exhilarating effect. If you wanna be more like her, start by shopping her ebay store and then throwing all your insecurities out with last month’s Vogue.

Once dubbed “the hippest girl on the internet” by Eve (and for a short time by Google as a result), Boboniaa never disappoints. Her daring color combinations, signature silhouettes (lots of slouchy t-shirt dresses, colorful round-toed pumps and over-sized accessories) set against bright cement walls are always eye-candy for our site. Thanks, Boboniaa, for always bringing it. We absolutely love your lovely, cartoony grin and joyous sophistication.

Besides having one of the best fashion blogs we’ve ever read, Leibemarlene also runs an incredibly consistent vintage eBay store. This girl is style, personified and wears almost exclusively vintage. Lucky for us, she’s always imparting her wardrobe wisdom and sharing her thrifted treasures to the entire interweb. So even though we can never hope to have as much innate fashion instinct as her, we can at least buy the clothes right off her painfully adorable back.

STELLA!! The inarguable muse of Painfully Hip. As fierce as a tiny toddler can be. Because really. Shouldn’t we all just lighten up and play dress-up every day? The world would be a much better place, don’t ya think?

I am so inspired by all those amazingly stylish people! Sally Jane, those boots, oh my!
I’m so flattered to be up there amongst all those fabulously stylish ladies! Thank you a million times over. I promise to get right back to the wardrobe remixing after the big move east. Happy New Year!
Ah, enough inspiration to last me into the new year! I envy Stella, I wonder if she’d like to meet my baby brother…
Wow! Those ladies represent. They are all quite plainly stunningly fashionable.
Stella is my idol.
Well, goodness, what can I say? Thank you so very much – each and everyone of these ladies I am amongst is a force to be reckoned with in style!
Oh, thanks so much for including me to such a fabulous bunch of stylish ladies! Wardrobe_remix never fails to inspire me. Happy New Year!
Great post! Just love all of them, but Piksi is my favourite! I think I’m gonna make a blog post about her amazing outfits!
Greetz,
Imelda
WOW. this was amazing. i LOVE Piksi’s outfit with the skirt, and that colorful scarf in the second photo is amazing. thanks for the inspirational post!!!
Merci! for adding sjwhidden , she rules the north eastern gales. I have been looking for one of those vintage Inuit parkas for years. They disappeared from the Ontario/Québec thrift stores a few years back, sadly.
Just by the way, it’s Québecer, not Quebecor, which is a company.
- Bonne Année 2008!
You have the most beautiful people on your site.

Oh, wonderful choices!
I definately agree with every single one of these.
Although I would have loved to see Liebemarlene here, too.
I’m surprised that Boboniaa isn’t here, but the ones you picked are awesome.
They kind of remind me of how homeless people are portrayed in cartoons.
Sexy little ladies aren’t they…Mmmmmmm
why do these dumb hipster chicks always stand pigeon towed for fotos? and by always, i mean, often. in my *very humble opinion, it makes them look like retards. discuss.
I quite like Piksi shots
piksi looks like an anthropologie catalogue :]
Most of these outfits look very silly and not at all flattering. People actually wear this stuff?
I’m sure this won’t make it up – but I must live on a different planet – most of this stuff looks like shit.
All attire are amazing and attractive, Seems very unique. Here you can get more on my site.
