check us out: scorin’ all over

we both scored some badass “statement shoes” this week and wore them out to a show last night…

Sorry about the blurrrr…
Eve’s wearing a floral 40s style top from Charlotte Russe, a red wool asymmetrical coat from H&M, Happy Monday jeans, thrifted yellow belt and red suede pixie boots. She’s playing a blue glockenspiel. I’m wearing a black twill peacoat with babydoll tailoring (LadyLanguage again!), a brown wool sweatervest, a thrifted navy high-waisted skirt, a plaid belt i got from a plaid dress in my closet, cableknit over-the-knee socks and some thrifted brogues. My shoes look pretty inconsequential in the photo, but they’re actually these fucking awesome, incorrigibly ugly products of clog/brogue/wedge incest which i thrifted but were probably originally produced for Mervyn’s circa 1989…

However, they do seem fairly well made and are surprisingly comfy!

BTW, I adopted a doggie from the SPCA!

I KNOW, right?? I lucked out and popped in mere hours after she was transferred there. She’s a (possibly purebred?) 1 y/o redbone coonhound and practically perfect in every way. OK, well she’s bigger, younger and less trained (read: not at all) than I was looking for, but seriously? I HAD NO CHOICE. Lookit!!!

Her name is Daphne, which I sort of like, but she doesn’t answer to it so really I can name her whatever I want. Ideas?? I take her home on monday.

  1. That is a very beautiful dog, I’ve been wanting to adopt another dog forever now. And that orange coat in the top picture is amazing, my face is green with jealousy.

  2. Congrats on your pooch! One of mine is a pound dog and one is from a rescue group. I love to see people adopt from the pound!

  3. She looks like a “Ruby” to me.
My folks had a Redbone Coon and she looks exactly like Beau looked so I’d say she is a purebred. Watch her though, she’ll want to hunt birds and such.

  8. Thanks guys! Those are all awesome suggestions. Its funny how almost everyone is suggesting southern old lady names like Fiona, Imogen, Faye, Rosemary, Eloise, Margot, Margine, Basil, Constance, Louise, Louisa, Sabina, Ramona, Mathilde, and Olive, which were exactly what i had in mind! So Rhoda, Tallulah and Scarlett were definitely in the running! I even really liked Cakes! Marmalade is great too!

But Eve actually came up with the winner (I came up with the spelling). it’s Maebe (pronounced Maybe)!

    Definitely Maebe. ;)
Thanks again you guys! She’s still in hospital recovering from her spaying, so I pick her up tomorrow morning… Can’t. Wait.
