Ah, ankle booties. Edgy, modern… and, in most cases, totally unflattering. The way they awkwardly cut your feet off so that, unless you were blessed with waif-like ankles, they make you kinda look like you have …hooves? Enter, the heeled nude ankle bootie. Optically extend the leg, enhance those calves, and be edgy and modern at the same time.
Feast your eyes on this nudie beauty of a bootie - even Miss Piggy could wear these without looking hoofy:

Pollini Cutout Ankle Bootie - of course they’re $695.00
I am instantaneous yearning for those cut-outs; its almost a maryjane or a t-bar combined with an ankle-hugging bootie which for me is shoe nirvana. So. Hot. But $695?? Really?? After fruitless attempts at googling a 95% off sale, I decided to search for some vague, yet cheap-as-a-street taco, look-alikes. Er… look-sorta-similars, anyway, ya can’t say i didn’t try.

Lilly Boot, $35
Not quite as ankle-hugging as the Pollini and in more of a tan color, but cheap! and still totally delicious. Love the wee ties.

Rhonda Peeptoe, $25.80
More of an oxford than an ankle boot (F21 describes it as a pump?), but still very cute.

Balmoral Peeptoes, $69.95
Pretty straight-forward, but they’re on sale from Anthropologie so I assume they’re good quality and will go with everything.

Apepazza Cezanne, $148
Ok, maybe a tad more expensive than a pocketful of pesos, but YUM.

$25, Buckle Trim Shootie
Apparently a year ago I thought I must be crazy for liking these and described them as “bastardizations of nature, the incestuous, retarded lovechild of a bootie, a peeptoe and a double strap maryjane.”
Turns out I must be crazy, because well, they’re still on sale.
