check me out: Spring - the final countdown

Oh man oh man oh man oh man….

It was SO nice out today. One of those days where you’d feel 100% comfy in either a t-shirt and shorts or jeans and a jacket. Total life-affirming perfection. I almost went tightless, until I realized that my legs had seen less sun than the giant squid. I did end up removing my jacket though. Oh joy, spring is as sprung as a rat trap in a sewer (but if it was so beautiful, why do I keep making analogies to disgusting things, you ask?? Sigh. It is a mystery which will remain unsolved.).

boys blazer, pink dress, ankle boots

ever-present pinstriped blazer – thrifted in the boys’ department, $3
sterling silver green and yellow amber necklace – a very sweet gift I received as thanks for some wedding invites I designed.
pale pink 70s sundress – another very sweet gift from Jen at Thunderhorse Vintage, just for choosing her store for my latest article! I never wear pink, but this peachy mauve was irresistible.
vintage wayfarers – $8 at Thunderhorse Vintage
cableknit tights – $2 target clearance
ankle boots – $14 at GoJane – Hallelujah! These boots filled my craving to a tee. And they’re comfortable too! I promise I will never give GoJane a hard time ever again.
Costa Rica shopping bag – flea market, $2. It has this rad, tribal banana and pineapple print all over it.
fascinator headband – I totally live in this thing, I love it so much! Another very sweet gift from my good friend and guest blogger, Mary Catherine of Little Red Fox. You can buy your very own here!

Golly gee, I’m a lucky girl. Glee!

If you’re in Sacramento, come see preggers Eve and her husband Danny performing (I’m joining in for a Fleet Foxes cover) tonight at the Fox & Goose Pub!

I’ll be camping on a river this weekend so watch for a post from the too adorable Diana. It’s supposed to hit 70 degrees and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It may be time to dance a jig or sing a ditty of some kind. Maybe BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.

I love that you referenced the giant squid. Poor thing, all left out and whatnot. Anyway, I ADORE that dress. Seriously amazing. And your freckles are too cute!

  • Bex

Gahhhh..make me jealous why don’t you, it’s freezing again in Chicago!! Cute photos!!!

  • Your whole outfit is gorgeous! So stylish and sweet. Love the fascinator.

  • cute outfit! very spring..
    xx-LJ from SOS!

  • Very sweet outfit. You have the right hair for headbands. You might think everyone has the right hair for headbands, but then you’ve never seen me in a headband…

In any case, cute outfit, great color combo!

  • Aw, thanks so much, all!

Virginia, I love the giant squid! Any time there’s a doc about it, I”M ALL OVER IT.

Sorry, Bex! I feel for you… but I tried the Chicago winter and I just can’t understand it. It’s like trying to live on Mars – it just wasn’t designed for humans.

Natalie – HA! Well at least I have the right hair for something, it’s not very good at being hair. ;)

I love it when you post pictures of you. Your pretty face and painfully hip outfits. More, more, more!

Haha, I guess it’s because you have to “ugly it up a little”, as you say you do to your outfits. Anyway, I love every part of this outfit, especially the headband! And yes, this is the first time I’ve commented your blog, though I’ve been reading it for a while

  • It’s raining and crappy here but while reading your post I felt transported to the lovely weather of last weekend! Thank you! And the shoes and headband are ADORABLE, i am checking out the ebay store now. Haha, and I also reference gross things when it gets warm here because at least in the city, with the nice sun comes the baking of homeless man urine off of the pavement and it wafts into your face ever so gently on the warm breeze… gotta learn to love it.

  • O, Amber! You’re the cutest! Your headband inspired me to wear a wrap belt with a big seashell tied around my head yesterday. xox

  • that dress has the cutest detailing!!!
