I watched this delightful piece of Henry Mancini magic starring Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney over the weekend and was understandably impressed by the costumes. Surprise! They were designed by Mary Quant. I think we all kinda knew that Ms. Hepburn was capable of pulling off anything, but I’d like to say two words right now: pleather pantsuit.

Yes, Audrey Hepburn was the epitome of style in those days and Mary Quant invented the mini-skirt and swinging sixties clothes that rocked. Until then all girls looked like their mother did when she was young.
I started this movie earlier today and was quite inspired as well. How cool. I’m thinking very mod for tonight’s outfit!
I have nothing but love for Audrey, but those glasses look incredibly stupid. They’re probably the only ugly vintage, oversized shades I’ve seen. They look like they’re on upside down (see 5th pic) and they wrap around so strangely (last pic), like they’re squashed against her face.
The yellow shades in the 2nd pic confuse/delight me though, like some weird futuristic throwback.. in the 60′s? My head hurts.
oh wow i really want to watch this! if only i could look that classic in a pleather pant suit…

Oh damn, that silver paillette dress makes me want to sell my soul.

oh yeah, I watched it too. And not for the first time either…And I really love the way the movie moves around too. And yeah…the fashions are terrific. And she wears them wonderfully. As much as I love them…even if I had them on, I’d never look as good as her – and I thought that as I was watching the movie for the gazillionth time.
