eBay Panic Party!: vintage oxfords and brogues

if you’re anything like me, you’re pining away with desire for the perfect pair of vintage brogues, perfect for fall fashionizing. gimme!

brogues.jpg

(photos from wardrobe remix-sjhidden, memepunk, ringo and marquise, kingdom of style and the coveted.)

hurry and get ‘em on ebay while they’re still hot! and i mean HAWT.

what’s that you ask?
oh, of course i’m not evil enough to intentionally try to drive the price up on these because i can’t have them all. well yes, i did happen to leave out the wickedest pair in size 7.5, but it was by accident, i swear.

these are in order of auctions ending first, check it:

perfect with tights or trousers, menswear-inspired Miu Miu’s! love the sculptural heel:
miumiu
size US 5, currently at only $9.90 and ending in 5 hours!

tan wingtips
cream and tan Salvatore Ferragamo wingtips! size US 7, currently at $9.99 and ending in 7 hours!

you can SO wear these after labour day. try ‘em with black tights, a shift and a cinched waistcoat for fall:
CK white
white Calvin Klein suede oxfords, size US 8 and currently at only $6.50 with 18 hours left!

these are marked as size 10, but are probably closer to an 8.5. i am beyond in love with them, but i’m only a 7.5, so i’m going to go cry now…
open leather oxfords
currently at $9.99 and ending in 22 hours!

black woven
black woven leather brogues! oh you lucky size 10s! these are currently at $17.99 with 1 day left

i have a pair almost exactly like these and i LIVE in them.
woven brown
size us 9 woven brown Dr. Scholl’s jazz oxfords. currently at $4.99 and ending in 1 day, 2 hours

these are obviously not vintage, but they’re on sale for the Buy It Now price of only $7.99!
jazzerblackpat.jpg
patent leather heeled brogues, many different sizes available! sale ends in 5 days.

i’m guessing these’ll eventually go for a pretty, pretty penny. i dunno why, it’s just a hunch.
b062_1_bjpg.jpg
1960s mint condition honey patent heeled brogues, size 7.5. currently at $9.99 with 9 days to go.

quick hip tip: when buying vintage shoes online, make sure you get shoe measurements and compare them to similar shoes that fit! vintage sizes can vary greatly. also, if they’re pointy enough to impale a squirrel, make sure you buy a 1/2 size (or at least a 2cm) larger.

bovine beauty: the elusive leather jacket

my husband recently bought one damn sexy motorcycle, a beautiful collector from 1971. he was elated of course, but my first thought? finally an excuse to invest in THE PERFECT leather jacket!

leather jacket

sounded like fun, but it wasn’t easy. i had major monetary restrictions to deal with, and after losing an eBay auction for this lovely Allen Schwartz at only $25:

allen b leather jacket
and then missing out on this Bebe one at $49:
bebe leather jacket

[actually, i’m gonna have to pause a moment here for a public service announcement regarding why i lost that first one. did you know that if you place a bid that is under the reserve price and then the seller lowers the reserve price to under your top bid, that eBay will automatically lower your top bid to under the reserve and you will have to reconfirm your bid before the end of the auction?? does that make sense? no? well i had no idea that was the case and it sucks, and i got screwed. ok, i’m done now.]

… the planets then aligned and the eBay clouds cleared and i finally scored this one by I.N.C. for only $22 including shipping!!!

incleather1.jpg

it’s not exactly the skinny bomber style i was hoping for, but it’s totally adorable and much more timeless. and at that price? i can buy 3 more if i wanna.

Haand Them Over

Loafers are the new flat. I love loafers! So hot with knee highs and a skirt, so coy with capris, so geek chic with skinny jeans. And now I am the proud owner of a pair of vintage Cole Haans! Check it:

cole-haans.jpg

I found these at the thrift store for $3.99.

I pictured the previous owner as being a Diane-Keaton type. She had a loafer addiction and decided to leave her plumber husband to run off with her accountant to Fiji and write her first novel. She only had time to grab her Enzos and her Coaches before her flight (Besides, she’d worn them on their honeymoon to Paris back in ‘84). Her husband couldn’t look at them and tossed them onto a thrift store parking lot on his way to an AA meeting.

(All prices include shipping)
Crocodile penny loafer $24.99

Coach Sig. Driving Shoe $74.87

Miraculously, Eve, who was about to turn 3o, had been wanting to feel classic and luxurious but was also broke. Her feet happened to be the same size and have the same contours as Diane’s. So the Cole Haans and Eve lived together, through beaches and brewfests, happily ever after.

White Driving Mules, $31.49

I just feel so hip in these, I don’t care that people will say, “Haha, I had a pair of those in high school. I used to wear them with my paisley vest and my bunchy sox…with my jeans tucked in!!!”

Happy Birthday to me!

eBay panic party! vintage party dresses

these are from one of my favorite vintage sellers, indie cult vintage. where DO they find these things? there must be some amazing thrift shopping in seattle. i must go down south more often. if only the traffic there wasn’t so hellish…

jeebus! what am i saying? it’s panic time! only 2 hours left on these beauts. sorry, but i wouldn’t want to skew the prices too much. as of publish time, these were still reasonably priced. only you lucky little sluts who show up soon have a chance at a winning bid for these loverly wee party dresses. click the image to go directly to the auction.

for the slightly less lucky, there’s still my body type tips to help you with buying a similar dress online. or you can hover and click on the stars to shop for similar accessories and shoes (the shoes). don’t forget to use the blessed price slider! have i taught you nothing?

lacemini.JPG
1. this cream dream is perfect for you if you have long limbs and a small upper body…

plaidbubble.JPG
2. this confection is good on almost all body types, as long as you’re not too bottom heavy or petite…

bub.JPG
3. this luscious gown would be so flattering on almost everyone. the length, the obi waist, the capsleeves… however, this cut can be a tad difficult to fit, so try it on right away.

lace mini dress
4. this style would be gorgeous on almost any body, but i’d shorten the sleeves a tad for a more flattering silhouette. oh and i’d have to slather on the self tanner to pull these pale colors off.

EDIT: apparently the plaid minidress, as Kori so quickly pointed out before i ended up looking like a fool, is not vintage. it’s actually a Luella design for Target. go figure! it’s in taffeta too. how glaringly eighties! i bet it’ll go for way over its original price. (thanks, Kori)

update: a few of these didn’t meet the reserve! watch it in your eBay to be informed when it’s re-listed at a much lower reserve price.

ebay panic party!

truth is, i do a lot of my shopping on eBay. but for obvious reasons, i don’t usually post ebay finds. it would kinda defeat the purpose. so i’m posting these last minute deals and whoever just happens to be logging onto my part of the interweb in the next couple hours will have a chance. sorry, everyone else. i hope the rest of your monday goes better after you find out you missed these beauts (click the photo to go directly to auction)…

you’re welcome.

chanel chic on a budget

chanely.jpg

check me out! my $66 outfit won the teamsugar lookbook look of the day on friday (when really i was just anonymously testing out its level of impressiveness before foisting it on you guys). what fun. seriously gushing comments! very sweet, but you’d think i cured cancer!

here’s what i’m wearing:

  • chanel-inspired black tweed jacket: $12 - Winners / TJ Maxx
  • v-neck 3/4 length puff sleeve sweater: $10 - Mervyns (i know, right?!)
  • dark wash straight leg jeans: $19 - Smart Set
  • striped burgundy skinny scarf: $1 - dollar store, baby!
  • skinny silver belt: FREE (adapted from a makeup bag strap i got for christmas)
  • patent leather peeptoe flats: $12 - eBay
  • black knot-front hobo: $12 - Hangar’s discount store

sniffle…

this is not my size. i almost want to convince myself that i could squeeze into it…
but no.

i will sacrifice it because i love you, dear reader.

ok, yeah. maybe it gives me pleasure to try and get all (6? …7?) of you to bid on it so i won’t be tempted once it goes above my high bid, which would’ve been, like, $20. starting bid is $10. enjoy.

… i hate you.

tealpeacoat.jpg

super tiny pea coat. ultra skinny.

is that sooo, crystal ball?

in line with the rise of the tent silhouette, i’ll go ahead and predict that embroidered mexican tent dresses, in a very short, fitted and understated form (sleeveless especially) will be huge in a couple months. mark my words: gorgeous with boots and bangles or shades, sandals and an oversized tote. buy one now while they’re still cheap! i’d check out eBay and thrift stores.
