going tribal on yer ass

My most favorite spring collection so far must be the indispensable Matthew Williamson. A joyous mix of MIA-licious tribal prints and splashy, feminine, citrus colours making me totally weak in the knees (images courtesy of Style.com).

So now, of course, i’m completely obsessed with smothering myself in a lovely, clashing mess of batik, chiffon and scarves. And although I think I’ll have much better luck altering some early 90s thrift store finds, there are a few lovely tribal-inspired treasures to be found online. Let’s go shopping, shall we?

Fall/Winter 07: the runway done my way

i hate the fall. not because of the weather, the weather could be worse, but because it seems like october/november is the time of the year when ALL the shit hits the fan. no kidding. have you noticed? maybe it’s a vancouver thing, but fall’s the time when couples break up, people get sick, move away. everyone’s all moody and melodramatic… i’m always still in denial come september. however? this year is a little different. i’m really looking forward to…

shortsuit, jumpsuit, playsuit, onesie, romper…

tomato, tomahto… whatever it’s called. i think i want one. i wasn’t really sure about it until i saw this one at michael williamson SS07:

ok, yeah so she’s 8 feet tall and 75% legs, but i think it would make me feel like a really chic, sophisticated toddler. just what i need with my 30th birthday approaching. of course, i better not drink too many liquids because i’ll have to get half-naked in order to relieve myself. which is awesome.
unfortunately, a decent shortsuit that is actually orderable in double-digit US or canadian dollars is eluding me at the moment. forever 21 has this one which i’m not too keen on. has anyone found a good one? i like the blouson and more understated styles like these:

runway robbery! (high fashion on the down-lo)

i just couldn’t get this gorgeous belted trench look from Marni SS07 out of my noggin, so i thought i’d burgle it in a more colourful version (the brighter the better, i always say) and throw in a few metallic accessories for my hipsters for the low price of $136.76. check ‘er out!
