The Painfully Hip Design Collective was started by Amber Mortensen in January of 2009. After dipping her toe in her dream career as a photoshoot stylist for a winter article she wrote for the Sacramento’s esteemed weekly, the News & Review, she decided to fatten up her stylist portfolio in her own way. She brought all her talented friends in the fashion industry together to collaborate on professional fashion editorials to add a splash of style to their portfolios.
Two years and two cities later, Amber has immersed herself in the fashion photography scene. Her styling has been featured in print by Vanity Teen, several issues of Lucky Magazine, Crossroads Trading Company ads across the USA, the News & Review, Zocalo Magazine, Sacramento Magazine and The Printed Blog and has received online recognition from Urban Outfitters, GAP, BUST Magazine, N.E.E.T. Magazine, Flair Magazine, FashionPhotographyBlog.com and About.com.
Some collective members include:
Bows & Arrows Vintage (Etsy & Ebay)
Cuffs Urban Apparel
