Painfully Trip: On Tour. Here we go again.

Ah roadtrips. It always surprises me what a sucker I am for the promise of all those endless asphalt ribbons luxuriating ahead of me. All that newness. All that possibility. All that Taco Bell.

This is going to be seriously next level. I am giggidy giggidy giddy about this trip.

November 20-23: San Francisco – For the SF Vistors’ Bureau. Feasting of San Francisco’s bodily delights and rooting out hidden gems, details forthcoming. A photo shoot with the indescribably talented Cecilia Austin featurning pieces by local designer, Danielle Due Citta with the theme: a stylized Edie Sedgwick about the City. Thanks to Cecilia for the concept. I believe she must practice mind-reading, I am loving this idea so much.

November 20-25: Sacramento, CA
November 26-27: Hawthorne, NV
November 27-December 2: Visiting dear friends, Ira and Andrea of Forkable and BTSIC fame, and then joining Agent Ribbons for the second half of their month-long tour. I might be drunkenly hawking vintage jewels at the merch table or attempting to infiltrate the spotlight with my sub-par ukulele twanging. Either way, there’s sure to be public apologies of, “Sorry, we only invited her because she is self-employed and has a drivers’ license.”

Here are all their entirely unmissable tour dates, in case you missed them in the summertime:

DO it. Please? If you miss it you will die a slow death of Ribbonless regret. Plus, I want to see how you’d interpret “cabaret-inspired victorian punk garage” in your garb. Best outfit gets a free beer.

PS Let us know if you live in Chicago or Oklahoma City and can help book those dates. If you needed an excuse to have a madcap house party and/or wedding, look no further.

One more thing! Jamaica of Sapphire Cordial designs and Concrete & Cashmere fame moves into the Painfully Hip adobe tomorrow! Its going to be a renaissance, I can feel it.

Special thanks to the lovely Michelle LaJeunesse for letting us visit the stunning Indy on his ranch – He was such a beautiful and well-behaved steed! and to the nice old man who allowed us to trespass on his beautiful property.

As an experiment, the Painfully Hip Design Collective has been tons of fun… I can’t believe how lucky I have been to have such crazy team of talent willing to pitch in to make such beautiful photos. I love it! That said, having a vintage store is a ton of work!! I have a whole new respect for online boutique owners. With my tiny apartment, my graphic design business and lack of superfluous funds, I am realizing that the Collective is going to have to take a backseat unless I can reduce the workload and get more of these of these pretty things into your hands!

Practically every piece in this photoshoot is in perfect condition and for sale! If you have any interest in purchasing an item you see in these photos, please let me know in the comments and I will hook you up! I will put your object of desire up on either the Etsy store or on the amazing vintage auction site, Market Publique and via email, you will be among the first to know about it!

check me out: captivated by Cuffs

Sweet and lovely Lacadia of Cuffs Urban Apparel (2523 J St. Sacramento) recently opened her very own online clothing boutique. Now this may not seem all that exciting to you at the moment (another one?), but that’s because most of you have probably never been there. I now no longer have this to gloat about.

Lacadia was sweet enough to ask me to model some of her new arrivals and I (despite the fact that I hadn’t had time to get my roots done and my legs were covered in battle scars from a fight I lost with a fixie) was all like “Oh, HELLS yes! Let’s DO this!” because I’m selfish that way.

I really do think she has the best tasting new inventory in Sacramento… Oh, I suppose I should also mention that she carries some of the most kickass vintage too, but we’ll just forget I said that because I’m expecting to hit the lottery soon and buy the crap out of it.

    Especially the plaid shorts.

Also worth mentioning: exclusive discount code “hellahip” for 10% off everything in her store (which all happens to be priced under $100)!

Oh and I would definitely check out her menswear section as she has great taste in mancandy… er… I mean, male models.

check me out: cuban drug dealer

    high-waisted striped linen pants

    high-waisted striped linen pants

My bf said these linen beauties look like cuban drug dealer pants. Awesome. They are so comfortable and breathable, they will be my uniform for the long hot summer of bicycle riding and roadtrips… and drug dealing (April Fools!).

A new Painfully Hip Design Collective post is upcoming this week! A photographic extravaganza featuring film noir lighting, 70s and 80s vintage (with no less than 3 awesome jumpsuits!) from Deborah Jean Vintage, styled with late 30s futurism in mind on a stunning plus size model. Just you wait.

check me out: my first walk-in

The best thing about my new apartment is my new closet! I’ve never had a walk-in before and I don’t think I could do without one ever again.

    walk-in closet
Naik Fur spiral knit cloche (as featured in my winter fashion article) – xmas gift, YAY!
cropped vest – Target clearance years ago, $2
silk rose print tank – thrifted in Chicago, $2
skinny jeans with zippered ankles – F21, $13
turquoise ankle socks – xmas gift
brown spectators (MINT) – thrifted in Chicago, $3

Screw a dresser. Hanging all your clothes is the only way to go… It’s so much easier to come up with new outfits when you can easily see everything at once! I adore unexpected color combinations and accessories as an accent to an otherwise neutral outfit. I wore this dancing on 60′s Soul Night.

Congrats to my friends Jamaica and Lyndsay, who threw the perfect party last night to end a great year of a virtual fashion renaissance for Sacramento. I had a blast modeling for Sapphire Cordial. Good job, girls.

Upcoming: My goal for 2009 is to make it one big list of Firsts, including my first VLOG, when I go on a shoe shopping spree at Marshall’s. Yeah, you’re totally as excited as I am.
