Painfully Hip is a cheap chic fashion blog with a bit of a travel bug. We feature thrifted outfits of the day, online indie boutique discounts, diy ideas, thrifty travel tips, exclusive fashion editorials featuring vintage, handmade jewelry and unknown local designers. We have a weakness for audacious prints and blinding color. It’s all about inspiring you to discover your own unrepentant personal style.
What’s Your Pleasure Today?

Email Us!Painfully Hip was started in February 2007 as a cure for Amber’s at-work boredom. Eve joined in with her sisterly dynamism in early April. Since then, we’ve been featured in interviews and mentions by BUST Magazine, Elle.com, Urban Outfitters.com, and Flair Magazine along with publication by Lucky Magazine, N.E.E.T. Magazine, Buffalo Exchange.com, The Printed Blog, and national print ads for Crossroads Trading Company, the vintage retailer. We’ve enjoyed the talents of guest bloggers like Diana of WellWornRoad, Mary Catherine of LittleRedFox and stylist Sarah Beaver of wardrobe_remix fame.
We were included as number 19 in Shiny Media’s Top 100 Fashion Blogs and in All Women Stalk’s Top 10 Best Fashion Blogs for Women, given “Must Read” status by Coutorture, have a full page interview and style feature in Sacramento Magazine’s November 2008 issue and will be featured in an upcoming book by author and blogger Vicky Zhou as one of the 500 most interesting blogs on the web! We have had press in Flair Magazine, Definitive Touch Men’s Magazine, Above The Fray Magazine, Lemondrop, the News & Review, and countless other wonderful blogs!
We love reading and answering any emails or stupid questions you may have. Our Ask Painfully Hip feature is ridiculously helpful when you have to do that thing you do when you get out of the shower. Email Us your fashion conundrums! We can help!
We are currently looking for some great clothing and beauty companies for product reviews and/or ad space rentals. We try to give priority to start-ups and independent designers. If you’re interested, please read more details and check out our awesome rates.
Amber is also available as a wardrobe stylist for fashion editorials or personal wardrobe updates. See more of her work on the Painfully Hip Design Collective. If your company is in need of some extra exposure and/or stylish photography in order to get noticed, find out more about our fashion styling and marketing collaborations!
Thanks for reading.
