i’m diana, and i’m pretty stoked i get my own page.
to sum it up, i’m a totally un-deserving space cadet who was granted guest-posting privileges by the amazing amber. one of my new year’s resolutions is to take more advantage of this privilege.
i grew up in various west-coast locations before taking an extended hiatus from college and relocating to the infamously hipster-riddled streets of williamsburg, brooklyn. once there, i worked at bumble + bumble for a little over a year before coming to the conclusion that i really wasn’t cut out to be somebody’s “employee.” i started teaching private sewing lessons and selling some of the vintage clothing that i’d collected over the years, on ebay. my cranky-levels dropped immensely.
i managed to survive two bitter northeastern winters before my deep hatred for temperatures below 68 degrees won out and i bought a van, packed up my sewing machines, my 9-foot potted fern, my boyfriend and my embarrassingly large collection of vintage dresses and returned to the love of my life. (tucson, az.)
at different points in my educational history i’ve majored in creative writing and fashion design. i’m also in long-term but open relationships with both screen printing and photography. i recently returned to school (for the millionth time) to learn more about graphic/web design and hone my photoshopping skills, because all the cool people i look up to have done this.
i’m currently in the process of relocating to the most magical 10-acre ranch nestled in the foothills outside of tucson with my beautiful and musically talented boyfriend, and my equally beautiful and musically talented brother. (i mean that in the most non-incestuous way possible.) once fully relocated, the remainder of 2009 will be spent building my first darkroom that is actually large enough to stand up in, and an even larger studio where i will continue designing and sewing my first clothing collection, packaging up the fantastical vintage goodies i hunt down and sell in my etsy shop, (don’t judge! it’s a work-in-progress!) and continuing to attempt to write on a somewhat-regular schedule. i also plan to spend a good deal of time throwing 70’s-themed pool parties on my back patio.
i’m still totally psyched that i get my own page.
